Established in 1958, the California Scottish Rite Foundation (CASRF) is the charitable organization of the California Scottish Rite. The California Scottish Rite Foundation's mission is to support and assist children in California by providing childhood speech-language, literacy, and education programs for a lifetime of improved communication and confidence.
The California Scottish Rite Foundation has the unique ability to offer these programs at no cost to families, bridging the financial resource gap. Speech, language, and literacy disorders can strike any child with potentially devastating outcomes. These children struggle with fundamental tasks such as speaking, reading, and writing. Communication is the basis of human interaction and identity. When these children struggle at an early age, they are more susceptible to being teased, ignored, or scolded when they attempt to speak, start to read, or when asked to write. Unfortunately, countless children with speech, language, and literacy disorders suffer from extremely low self-confidence and difficulty succeeding academically. This not only affects the children but also their families, who witness their child being seen and treated differently due to these challenges.
Commitment to the California Scottish Rite Foundation
Through to the efforts of devoted clinicians, generous donors, supportive parents, and committed Masons, the California Scottish Rite has collaborated with the California Scottish Rite Foundation to achieve remarkable success. Together, they have expanded program offerings, diversified their initiatives, and continue to make a profound difference every single day. The support within the California Scottish Rite community for the Foundation's endeavors is greatly impressive but philanthropic endeavors have no end for the men of Masonry. Our local Scottish Rite Masons persistently utilize their network, resources, and time to contribute to the advancement of the California Scottish Rite Foundation. This philanthropic collaboration stands as a compelling reason to join the brotherhood, offering the opportunity to lead and learn alongside these passionate and honorable members.
“It is difficult to find words to express thanking you for saving our child’s life. This is what you have done. You took our beloved child, destined for failure and heartache, and pointed him in the direction of happiness and success.”
A letter from a parent to the California Scottish Rite Foundation
Each year, the California Scottish Rite Foundation provides free, life-changing speech, language, and literacy treatment to more than 2,300 children with language disorders in communities across the state. Since its founding, the Foundation has also provided over $200,000 annually in scholarship assistance to more than 100 California students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees.
Funding For The California Scottish Rite Foundation
The California Scottish Rite Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is entirely reliant on philanthropic support from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners, as it does not receive any state or federal funding. Funding for the Foundation comes from both Masons and non-Masons within our community. The California Scottish Rite is directly involved in the pursuit of a better society for all. This demonstrates to the world that Masons are dedicated to shaping the world around them and leading with the Masonic principles of Brotherly Love, Tolerance, Charity, and Truth.
Masons of the California Scottish Rite take pride in knowing that they surround themselves with people who deeply care and are willing to share their efforts with the community, particularly the youth. Monetary donations are not the only way Masons are involved with the California Scottish Rite Foundation. From galas to golf tournaments, these philanthropic events offer opportunities to have fun alongside fellow Masons, meet and learn from new people while directly supporting your local community and at-risk youth.
